Political legend to deliver keynote address to Yorkshire Expo
Made in Yorkshire is pleased to announce that one of the leading politicians of the last 50 years – and a true manufacturing champion – has agreed to deliver the keynote speech at this year’s Made in Yorkshire Expo.
Chrissie Gale, director, Made in Yorkshire, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have secured a speaker of the calibre of Lord Prescott to deliver the keynote speech at this year’s Expo.
“We were looking to secure a speaker who embodied the true values of Yorkshire and its manufacturing community and therefore he is the perfect fit and I know our members are equally as pleased to have him attend our event.”
Anyone in any doubt about Lord Prescott’s commitment to Yorkshire and its manufacturing industry need look no further than the tweet he made earlier this year when he announced he would be fronting a new television documentary, prophetically entitled ‘Made in Yorkshire’.
He said: “Look out for me on Channel 5 as I explore the two loves of my life; Yorkshire and manufacturing in my new series, Made In Yorkshire.”
“We would like to think Lord Prescott had us in mind when they came to name the series but whichever way it worked out, it’s a very happy coincidence,” added Chrissie.
The exhibition takes place at the Centenary Pavilion, Leeds United Football Club, Leeds on Thursday May 17 and will feature scores of businesses from across Yorkshire’s manufacturing community.
The event will be a demonstration of the resilience of Yorkshire’s manufacturing community in the face of a slowing sector.
Scores of Made in Yorkshire members will be exhibiting and hundreds of people from across Yorkshire’s business community are expected to visit.
The Expo will feature manufacturers of all types and sizes, ranging from sole traders to large SMEs. The majority will be firms employing between 10 to 50 people.
Exhibitors include: Portakabin, Autoneum, Rosti Automotive, Holmesterne Foods, Seabrook Crisps, Balmoral Tanks, Corrocoat, Cirteq, Christeyns, Envirovent, European Springs and Pressings, Hayley Group, Hesco, Kloeckner Metals, Liberty Steel, Sleeper Group, Teconnex and Winder Power.
In addition to the exhibition stands, there will be a diverse programme of seminars throughout the day with speakers talking about their inspirational journeys through to thought-provoking pieces about where Yorkshire industry stands today.
“We have some incredible manufacturers in Yorkshire – many of which are members of Made in Yorkshire. We are delighted that so many of them have backed our Expo by agreeing to exhibit,” said Chrissie.
“It is the showcase that the Yorkshire manufacturing community deserves and with Lord Prescott’s backing, firmly establishes Made in Yorkshire as the leading industry support organisation in the county.”
